What a Day

Congratulations! Whether it was your first half marathon or your 696 marathon ( I can’t even imagine that) finishing a Half Marathon or a Full Marathon puts you in a pretty select group of people.Whether you PRd or struggled through give yourself a pat on the back – you deserve it!  We appreciate being a part of your day.

Our final finisher came in at 11:43 with a team of local supports who went out to meet him on the course and did the last mile with him.

Things That Might Be On Your Mind

Age Group Awards: If you placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in your age group you will receive an award coin with your name and finish time in 8 – 10 weeks. We need to custom order them, have them fabricated and shipped to you. That takes a little time.We have record of your win and you will automatically get the award you did not need to be at the award ceremony. The same applies to the trophies. We will send them to the winners if you were not at the ceremony to receive it.

Photos: US Candids took your photos. We will provide them with your e-mail address next week and they will e-mail a link with your photos directly too you. You can search their website in the meantime. They need to process the photos and group them by bib number. That usually takes a couple of days because they take a ton of photos.

Results: The links are on the home page of our website. Please make sure your name is spelled correctly in the listing. If you switched from the Half to the Full or visa versa please make sure you are listed  under the correct race. If something is incorrect please e-mail [email protected] with the correct information. It takes several days for corrections to get through the process, please give us some time.

If you finished after 2:30 p.m., you are not in the results listing yet. Don’t worry we have your time recorded. It should be on the results listing by the end of the week. it takes several days for your results to make it through the process and get posted. I can’t just go to the listing and change it. Please give us some time.

Shirts: Extra shirts will be available on Race It next week.

Run On

A word of caution – it’s real easy to get out of the running habit after a Half Marathon of a Full Marathon. The best thing to do is sign up for another one. If you don’t have a reason to get up at 4:30 in the rain and go for a run simply loving to run often  isn’t a sufficient motivator. Then when you get home from work you just don’t feel like putting on the running shoes. Next thing you know you haven’t run for 2 weeks. Since it’s been 2 weeks, there can’t be any harm in missing another day? Before you know it 3 miles will feel like 26.

On the other side of that coin you just wreaked havoc on your body and it needs a few days to recover. Find a good recovery plan and get out there. Conventional wisdom says if you’re running 10 miles regularly you can train for a marathon in 16 weeks. If you’re running 10 regularly you can run a Half Marathon any time.

By the way if after finishing this one you said, “Never Again!”, we all say that. Then we sign up for another one a couple days later. It’s one of the special crazy joys of LD running!

Thank you for Running with Us!

From the entire Marathon Planning Team, the Residents and Staff of Garden Spot Village we say: “Thank you for running with us. We appreciate your participation and hope you enjoyed the day.” You never know what kind of weather you might get in early April in Lancaster County. This year was pretty good. A little breezy but it was sunny and the temperatures were great for running.

We hope you’ll run again with us next year. Until then . . . be safe out there and enjoy every step.

Run On!
Scott
